Regé-Jean Page spoofed his sex symbol status on SNL and Bridgerton fans are so here for it
Let's face it, we have a lot to thank Netflix's Bridgerton for. Not only was it an unlikely lockdown saviour thanks to it's winning combination of Gossip Girl-style drama, friendships and regency fashion, it also formally introduced us to Regé-Jean Page AKA the Duke of Hastings. Unsurprisingly, the Duke's sex appeal left quite the impression on Bridgerton fans and hasn't gone unnoticed by Regé-Jean himself. Over the weekend he hosted Saturday Night Live, poking fun at the Duke's smouldering reputation and proving himself to be quite the charmer IRL.
He opened the show with a classic monologue, saying, "You probably recognise me from Bridgerton, the show that made everyone turn to their mums and say, ‘You know what? Never mind I don’t think we should watch this together.’ It’s a bit of a racy show. Because of that, people may associate me being this smouldering, sensual smoke show. But I assure you, I’m just a regular guy."
He then turned to look at a different camera and said, "I’m here to show you a good time. I want us to have fun together, to explore each other. Does that sound pleasing to you?”

The show continued to poke fun at Bridgerton's raunchy reputation, with one clip of Regé-Jean (as the Duke) and Chloe Fineman (as Daphne Bridgerton) attempting to film a sex scene. Unfortunately the show's intimacy coordinator was off sick, so SNL stars Mikey Day and Pete Davidson are drafted in to help instead. You can probably guess where this is going.
SNL also used a clip of Regé-Jean eating some cereal to promote the show, with the caption, "There is a spoon in this video. This is not a drill." We're guessing this is a reference to the time the internet lost it over the Duke licking a spoon in the series. Honestly, it doesn't take much these days, eh?
