If you were under the impression that mini-me collections were a little, well, naff, that's all about to change. Reformation is launching a capsule collection today with matching mother and daughter outfits, and it's one of the chicest things we've ever seen.

This limited-edition line comprises just eight pieces, most of them dresses – because that's what Reformation does best. And because sustainability is also what the LA-based brand does best, you can trust that it's a big consideration in this collection.

Reformation helped pave the way for modern sustainable fashion (and by that we mean, successfully shaking off its hippy, hempy connotations) when it launched in just over a decade ago. The label sticks mainly to deadstock fabrics, low-impact materials (less water used, less emissions), as well as selling and re-purposing vintage pieces. Everything is designed and made in Reformation's very own factory in Los Angeles, where the team can ensure garment workers are fairly treated and save on shipping emissions, too.

But, anyway, onto the collection; which is a dreamy array of breezy dresses, playful printed loungewear and classic pyjamas, all designed for both mother and daughter. Everything is made from organic cotton-jersey, low-water linen and plant-based (aka, not plastic or synthetic) fibres.

Reformation usually cuts its hero pieces on the bias to create figure-fitting silhouettes, which we admit can be a little intimidating. By contrast, the dresses in this capsule are much looser to suit children – which is great news if you've been dying to try the brand but have avoided it due to the clingy shapes. They look incredibly comfy, actually, with ruching at the bust, roomy tiered shapes and adjustable tie straps so you can control the coverage.

The prints and colours are the real show-stealer though. There are yellow and green gingham weaves and whole load of florals – romantic meadow flowers in muted colour palettes, ditzy Liberty-inspired designs and vintage wallpaper stripe florals.
