The actress is set to play Elle Woods in the third instalment of Legally Blonde, which is currently slated for a release in 2023, 22 years after the first film and 19 years after the 2003 sequel, Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde. During an interview with USA Today, Reese explained the third film's team have taken inspiration from how Top Gun: Maverick - which was released 36 years after its predecessor hit certain nostalgic beats to please fans while feeling like a fresh and exciting story.
