Recreate the Siren Makeup Look in 5 Simple Steps

From smoky eyes to traditional winged eyeliner, there's no shortage of inspiration from the beauty archives when it comes to creating visually interesting makeup looks. Learning how to emphasize your eyes is one of the best ways to complement your features, allowing them to stand out as they were designed to. With eyeliner comes a myriad of makeup looks, and this time it's siren eyes we are obsessed with.

Ahead, we sourced two pro makeup artists and put together a siren makeup tutorial that will have you inspired to recreate this look on yourself. Spoiler alert- You'll turn heads everywhere you go.

1. Lid Prep

When creating the foundation for siren makeup, start by applying a neutral-toned eyeshadow that won't be too distracting, as the eyeliner is the main focal point. I'm applying Nars Total Seduction Eyeshadow Stick in the shade Don't Touch as a base that will stay. The cream formula is easy to blend and creates a solid base for the next steps.

2. Perfect the Eyeliner

What makes siren eyes unique is how lifted they are, so the next step is to apply a black eyeliner in a slight wing shape at the edge of the eye, drawing it on in an upward motion. A soft pencil formula is ideal for this, as you can blend easily and smudge as you go. I'm applying Le Rouge Français Le Noir Eyeliner Pencil in the shade Calistoga to the outer corner.

Once the eyeliner has been applied to the outer corner, apply it to the inner corner on both the top and bottom, creating a V shape. This brings instant definition and defines the shape. For a more intense look, you can drag the liner all the way across the inner waterline, but it's not necessary, as the sharp inner corner is what sets this liner look apart from the rest.

After applying the liner, go back in with a precise eyeliner brush and smooth it out so it looks blended. I'm using the Artis Elite Linear 1 Brush because it's so thin, perfect for smoothing and blending cream and gel liner formulas. It's important to remember that you don't need to connect the line across the top portion of the lid. You can leave a little space there to create an open shape. Dresher explains that it's all about the flick when creating siren eyes, "Flicking out the eyeliner in the inner corner and outer corner while keeping it very elongated is the key feature when recreating siren eyes," she says.

3. Go Big With Mascara

After your liner is perfect, curl your lashes to create maximum volume. I'm using this eyelash curler from Tweezerman, and lightly clamping it down a few times to ensure I get the most lift and that the lift stays.

Once lashes are lifted, apply a generous amount of mascara for maximum volume and impact. I used three coats of DiorShow Iconic Overcurl Mascara, starting at the base of my eyelashes and working the brush up to the tips to ensure every lash was coated.

Tips

Wondering if you can pull off siren eyes with your particular eye shape? "Siren eyes can be worn on most eye shapes," says Gianno. "For downturned eyes, the siren eye shape can be particularly effective in making the eyes appear more lifted. However, almond-shaped eyes are often considered ideal for this look, as their natural shape complements the bold, elongated wing."

4. Sculpt Your Skin

A sculpted complexion is a great pairing with siren eyes. I started with a cream bronzer and applied it across the forehead, along the cheekbones, and jawline. I applied Nars Laguna Bronzing Cream in the shade 01 with this multi-powder blush brush from Anisa Beauty. Using a fluffy brush is paramount as you can blend the bronzer and make it look natural, leaving no streaks or stark lines behind.

Once bronzer has been applied, follow up with a sheer blush on the apples of the cheeks for a soft color. I applied Nars Orgasm Powder Blush and blended it with Make Up For Ever's 152 brush.

Add the final touches to your complexion using a dewy highlighter that will reflect light and create beautiful luminosity. I applied Westman Atelier Lit Up Glow Highlighter Stick on my cheekbones and under my eyebrows to create a stunning, luminous shine.

5. Shape Your Lips

Since the eyes are the focal point, keeping the lips natural with some shape is ideal when adding the finishing touches. I shaped and added some definition to my lips using Make Up For Ever's Artist Color Pencil Longwear Lip Liner in the shade Limitless Brown and followed up with Nars Explicit Lipstick in the shade Blame.
