Rebel Wilson's 5 Skincare Secrets for a Glowing Complexion
During actress Rebel Wilson's 'Year of Health' in 2020, the 41-year-old picked up a load of wellness-focused habits, such as hikes and sprint-based workout sessions.
All of those health-boosting changes are showing up on her skin, too. 'Now I feel that thing people talk about—if you're healthy on the inside, you glow on the outside,' Wilson has said. 'I don't want to sound superficial, and looks aren't everything, but I think I'm getting better looking with age.' Keep reading for her smart skincare strategies.
She sticks to a skincare routine
Though Wilson has quite a collection of beauty products now, that wasn’t always the case. 'I never was like a girly girl who was into stuff' she told Byrdie. 'But I am into facials now. I find them so relaxing. I never knew about anything beauty-wise until I came to Hollywood. I'm from the bush in Australia, so I really had to learn everything.'
She uses this budget-friendly ice roller from Amazon under the eyes and on the jawline first thing in the morning, before applying makeup, to depuff her face, which is great for filming days. When she’s working, she’s loyal to Dermalogica, especially their UltraCalming Cleanser, Multi-Active Toner, and Super Rich Repair Moisturiser.
She also likes the Kate Somerville DermalQuench +Retinol Advanced Resurfacing Treatment. 'It just gives this cool tingling sensation when you spray it on,' she has said. 'Another friend who's a makeup artist has been using it too. I also have been wearing a lot of Korean face masks lately. My friend supplies me with them. I don't know what the hell is in them, but Koreans know their beauty products.'
She can do a 5-minute face
On days she doesn’t have a glam squad, Wilson takes matters into her own hands. 'I definitely have my little essentials that I use if I have to quickly look presentable: Dior Addict Lip Glow—it’s a lipstick, but also kind of a gloss as well. It’s really easy, and you don’t even need a mirror to put it on,'she told Who What Wear.
'I always use Givenchy’s Noir Couture Waterproof Mascara because when I smile, my eyes crinkle quite a bit, so I always use waterproof so mascara doesn't get all over my lids. Then, I grab Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz to do a bit of a brow when I’m stopped at a traffic light, and to finish, probably Charlotte Tilbury’s Eye Shadow Pencil in Amethyst Aphrodisiac.'
She knows the importance of sunscreen.
The actress is all about sun care since there is a high skin cancer rate down under. 'I’ll always apply Dermalogica's Sunscreen With SPF 50 because I’m so fair, but I love being out in the sun,' she has said. 'Wearing sunscreen every single day is something that's kind of been ingrained in me as an Australian.'
She knows which in-office procedures work for her
Wilson is into an IPL laser. 'It’s a laser that gets rid of sun damage,' she has said. 'I love it. I think my skin responds really well to lasers, so I do, once a year or so, get a little bit of maintenance done, mostly to remove any sun damage. I feel like it’s a good investment because sun damage later in life can potentially lead to skin cancer, so I think it’s almost preventative in a way.'
She takes hair and nail vitamins
One of her wellness rituals is taking Olly's gummy supplements. (She’s an ambassador for the brand.) 'My hair and my skin get put through a lot because I'm filming all the time,' Wilson has said. 'My nails do as well because I love gel nails, even though it's a bit damaging to my nails. So, I'll take the Heavenly Hair or Undeniable Beauty because it's got biotin, keratin, and vitamin C and E.'
