This Morning had to replace Holly Willoughby this week (Monday, November 15), after the presenter pulled out at the last minute due to illness.

Instead, former Big Brother star Josie Gibson joined Willoughby's onscreen partner Phillip Schofield to take over presenting duties temporarily.

"This is a bit of a first," Schofield said, as he turned to Gibson during their impromptu intro. "So, what? I don't know, an hour ago, you were on your way to do our live competitions in Surrey?"

"Yep, one minute of TV. That's it, over," Gibson laughed. "But then I had a phone call..."

"Turn you round, bring you back here... Holly is not here today because she's got a tummy bug – nothing more than that. She'll probably be back in tomorrow," Schofield explained, before turning to Gibson again. "But you were then parachuted in?"

"I was," she said. "I couldn't believe it, I thought they'd got the wrong number, Phil, honestly. I said, 'You've phoned Josie!' But yeah, how surreal? I've grown up watching the show and now I'm sat alongside you.

"Look, I've been thrown in at the deep end," Gibson quipped to the camera, as she gestured to Schofield and added: "But I've got the best armbands on the planet."

"Good luck @Josiestweet have a great show and hope you're feeling better very soon @hollywills," the show's resident hypnotists Nik and Eva Speakman wrote on Twitter, as a viewer said: "@Josiestweet is never shy of a challenge, and has proved that! Doing a great job Josie, what a star, you deserve it."

This Morning airs on weekdays from 10am on ITV.
