One Direction's Liam Payne confirmed his split from fiancée Maya Henry yesterday [7 June], and a new report claims to know the reason why.

The singer, 28, and model, 21, got engaged during the summer of 2020 after 18 months of dating. But it unfortunately wasn't to be - the singer explained during a recent podcast appearance that the pair had gone their separate ways in order to focus on themselves.

"I feel like more than anything at this point, I'm more disappointed in myself that I keep on hurting people," the singer said on The Diary Of A CEO. "That annoys me. I've just not been very good at relationships. And I know what my pattern of things is with relationships at this point.

"I'm just not very good at them so I just need to work on myself before I put myself on to somebody else."

Now, a source at The Sun claims to know the real reason behind the split, touching on how Liam wants to focus his time on his son with Cheryl, Bear. "Liam just wants to spend more time with his son Bear since the split," the source claimed. "That's his boy, he means the world to him."

The insider continued, "He's devoted to being a dad and making more time with his little man now he's getting older. Liam is taking care of himself better now, working out more and a clean living lifestyle too."
