Raf Simons has taken to Instagram to announce that he is shutting his namesake label. The designer – who held a show in London just a few months ago – will bring the brand to a close after 27 years in business.
Simons shared a heartfelt message to those who have worked for and believed in him over the years, and his fans and followers were quick to send messages of support.
'The SS23 collection is the conclusion of an extraordinary 27-year journey and the final season of the Raf Simons fashion brand,' he wrote. 'I lack the words to words to share how proud I am of all that we have achieved. I am grateful for the incredible support from my team, from my collaborators, from the press and buyers, from my friends and family, and from our devoted fans and loyal followers.'
'Thank you all, for always believing in our vision and for believing in me.'
The designer did not go into any detail as to why he has chosen to shutter the label, or what his future plans may be.
The brand's final show took place at Printworks in Surrey Quays in October, where he presented the SS23 collection. The show had been delayed from its initial scheduling during London Fashion Week after the Queen's passing.
Simons launched his namesake brand in 1995, running it alongside his various stints at major fashion houses including Jil Sander, Dior and Calvin Klein. In 2020, he was announced as co-creative director of Prada, alongside Miuccia Prada, a position he is expected to remain in.
