Hilarious footage shows a police officer's persistent efforts to free a raccoon that managed to get its head stuck in a jar.

The officer, who was not named for the sake of "dignity" can be seen chasing after the wild animal, running around in circles.

Oak Grove Police Department said "the foot chase travelled a quarter mile in steps" and the "culprit refused all verbal commands."

They said the "hands-on" officer "completed an impromptu roundabout dizzying the raccoon," allowing him to grab the jar.

Police "the officer did not display any external injuries, though internally it may be too soon."
