Offering hours of fun for kids and adults alike – not to mention delicious snacking opportunities – building a gingerbread house is one of our favourite holiday season traditions.

So, you can bet we were delighted to spot that the Queen's royal pastry chefs have shared their recipe for the "perfect gingerbread house".

In a step-by-step video shared on the official @TheRoyalFamily Instagram account on this week, we see the festive bake come together. And, we have to say, the finished result really is spectacular, with a beautifully iced roof and even a gingerbread snowman by the front door.

The accompanying caption reads: "In the run up to Christmas, the chefs in the Royal kitchens have shared their recipe for making the perfect Gingerbread House. Make with warming ground ginger and decorate to your own style!"

We do hope the Queen will be tucking into this festive masterpiece on Christmas Day!
