Queen's Brian May seen at cricket match just days after revealing stroke horror
Queen guitarist Brian May has been seen enjoying a spot of cricket at The Kia Oval, looking relaxed and cheerful just weeks after suffering a stroke that temporarily robbed him of control in his left arm. The 77 year old rock icon, who only opened up about his health scare this week, was spotted alongside his wife Anita Dobson, appearing to be in high spirits - despite recent reports that his recovery meant staying at home.
This public appearance follows shortly after Brian took to social media to update his fans on his condition, saying: "I hope you're all well out there. I'm here to bring you first of all some good news. I think good news is that I can play guitar after the events of the last few days and I say this because it was in some doubt because that little health hiccup that I mentioned happened about a week ago and what they called it was a minor stroke and all of a sudden - out of the blue - I didn't have any control over this arm so was a little scary."
He continued with gratitude for the medical team that assisted him: "I have to say I had the most fantastic care and attention from Frimley Hospital where I went blue lights flashing... the lot. Very exciting! ".

Brian concluded on a positive note, explaining that he isn't 'allowed to go out': "So, good news is I'm okay. Just doing what I'm told which is basically nothing. I'm grounded I'm not allowed to go out well I'm not allowed to drive, not allowed to get on a plane, not allowed to raise the heart rate too high, not allowed to have planes flying over, which will stress me. But I'm good."
The NHS stresses the importance of recognising stroke symptoms promptly, highlighting: "The main stroke symptoms can be remembered with the word FAST: Face the face may have dropped on 1 side, the person may not be able to smile, or their mouth or eye may have drooped.", reports the Mirror.
"Arms, The person may not be able to lift both arms and keep them there because of weakness or numbness in 1 arm. Speech, their speech may be slurred or garbled, or the person may not be able to talk at all despite appearing to be awake; they may also have problems understanding what you're saying to them. Time, It's time to dial 999 immediately if you notice any of these signs or symptoms."
In 2020, Brian experienced a heart attack which led to the discovery of three blocked arteries, putting him dangerously close to death. Reflecting on his health scare on Instagram, the rock icon expressed his surprise, noting that he was considered to be in good health: "Everyone says, 'You've got great blood pressure, great heart rate', I keep fit on my bike, good diet, not too much fat."
He further commented: "We've all got to really look at ourselves as we get to the autumn years [...] what seems to be a healthy heart may not be."
