The Queen shared her Christmas pudding recipe this weekend with a step-by-step guide from the Royal kitchens.

The Queen shared a full video tutorial and breakdown of the recipe ingredients to the official Royal Instagram page. The recipe was shared to mark Stir-up Sunday, which took place on Sunday 21 November.

Stir-up Sunday is “traditionally the day when home cooks ‘stir up’ their Christmas pudding mixture on the Sunday before the Advent season - and the countdown to Christmas – begins,” a caption alongside the post explained.

The official Christmas pudding recipe from the Royal Kitchens includes a mix of raisons, currants, and sultanas as well as mixed peel. The traditional mixture uses three types of alcohol; beer, dark rum and brandy.

The recipe does list alternatives to the alcohol if desired, however, and advises adding in orange juice or cold tea in place.

To serve, the palace kitchens advise cooks to, “garnish or flambé and serve with brandy sauce and cream.”
