Queen leads royal birthday messages to Prince Harry as he turns 37

Watch: Happy Birthday, Prince Harry! Did you know THIS about him?

The Queen, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall were among the royals to mark Prince Harry's 37th birthday with a public message.

It has become custom over the years for the royals to use their social media accounts to share throwback photos and sweet greetings to celebrate a family member's birthday.

And the congratulations messages for Prince Harry today (15 September) were no different.

Posting a selection of photos highlighting her grandson's charity efforts while he was a working royal, the Queen posted a simple message wishing Prince Harry a happy birthday, via the @RoyalFamily Twitter account, which represents the Queen and all the senior royals who don't have their own social media handles.

The tweet read: "Wishing The Duke of Sussex a happy birthday today!"

The simple message was accompanied by a collage of pictures of Prince Harry carrying out royal duties, including one image with his wife Meghan Markle.

In the other images, Prince Harry can be seen carrying out public duties – in one, he is high-fiving a young boy planting a tree in Botswana, and in another he looks happy and relaxed as he listens to members of the public speak.

The Queen's message via Twitter was quickly followed by birthday wishes from the two other main royal households - Kensington Palace and Clarence House.

Via their Kensington Palace Twitter handle the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge wrote: "Happy Birthday Prince Harry!"

The simple tweet was accompanied by a red balloon emoji.

The couple added a single picture of Prince Harry taken in January 2020, when he hosted the Rugby League World Cup 2021 draw at Buckingham Palace.

Meanwhile the Duke's father Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall shared three photos of Prince Harry at past royal engagements, on their Clarence House twitter account.

Along with the images, the message to the Duke read: "Wishing The Duke of Sussex a very Happy Birthday today", followed by a cake emoji.

Unlike the other birthday tweets, it included two images of the Prince of Wales and Harry together, one of which was a throwback snapshot from Harry's childhood.

The other was taken in 2014, during the opening ceremony of the first-ever Invictus Games, and portrays Charles and Harry laughing together on the stands.

While it has become custom for members of the royal family to mark their birthdays with a charitable initiative or donation, Prince Harry hasn't yet shared plans with the public over how he will spend his birthday this year.

On his 36th birthday, he chose to support CAMFED, a charity that promotes girls’ education in Africa.
