The Winner Of The Queen's Platinum Jubilee Pudding Competition Has Been Revealed!

·1-min read

To mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee and commemorate her 70-year reign, a nationwide competition was launched asking people to come up with a pudding fit for a queen (literally) to celebrate.

Judged by Mary Berry, MasterChef’s Monica Galetti and Buckingham Palace’s head chef, Mark Flanagan, the winner has just been announced, and let's just say their pudding sounds immense (and also quintessentially British)...

Introducing the *official* Platinum Jubilee pudding, Jemma Melvin’s Lemon Swiss Roll and Amaretti Trifle.

Upon beating over 5,000 other desserts to the crown, Jemma said, "Oh my. I have to tell my grandma first, she is the person that taught me how to bake and I am so excited to tell her, she’s going to be so proud, I can’t wait, I can’t wait.

"I am so happy, I am so happy, thank you so much Mary, it’s been an honour as well to have your feedback. It’s just meant the world to me so thank you.

"The thought of people recreating my pudding, especially round the Jubilee, is just a total pleasure."

Featuring a combination of lemon curd Swiss roll, St Clement’s jelly, lemon custard, amaretti biscuits, mandarin coulis, fresh whipped cream, candied peel, chocolate shards and crushed amaretti biscuits, there's no wonder this pud won!

Jemma’s Lemon Swiss Roll and Amaretti Trifle recipe will be available via BBC Good Food, Fortnum & Mason and The Big Jubilee Lunch.
