The Queen just personally signed off an Instagram post
We love that the Royal Family now have a strong presence on social media, but we also know that they have a team of helpers in place when it comes to deciding the content they share with the general public – which is why it's always exciting when a family member signs off a post personally.
It's something that Prince William recently did when calling out racism on the football pitch and now, the Queen herself has taking to social media to post a personal message with her 10 million followers.
Alongside an image from the Paralympics closing ceremony, Her Majesty sent a warm message of congratulations to all the athletes who represented Great Britain, Northern Ireland and the Commonwealth countries. The statement was signed off by 'Elizabeth R' (the 'R' standing for 'regina', meaning queen in Latin).
"I offer my warm congratulations to Paralympic athletes from Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and indeed to the athletes of all Commonwealth countries, on their enormous success at the Tokyo Games," the post begins.
"The commitment, dedication and adaptability shown by you, and your support teams, during the exceptional circumstances of the last 18 months has been inspirational. Your performances have lifted the nation and your triumphs been celebrated by us all.
"I send my very best wishes to all those who have contributed to the success of these memorable Games. ELIZABETH R."
Sporting and royal fans alike were quick to flood the comments echoing Her Majesty's sentiments, with one writing, "Lovely statement, congratulations to all the athletes 🙌"
Another added, "Great message from Her Majesty. I'm sure this means a lot to all the Paralympic athletes. Well done, and congratulations to each and every one of them.🙌💕."
The post was liked by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's Instagram account too, which recently surpassed a huge milestone – hitting 13 million followers. This makes Prince William and Kate Middleton the most followed online out of all of the senior working royals, including Prince Charles and his second wife, Camilla Duchess of Cornwall.
Elsewhere in royal news, it's reported that the Cambridges are looking to leave London and move to Windsor Castle, where they'll be closer to the Queen.
Speaking to OK!, royal insider Katie Nicholl said: "Neither William or Kate have ever been London people and have never enjoyed the chaos of the city."
Nicholl went on to add, "Whilst their home at Kensington Palace is highly secure, they have often felt overlooked and that they lacked privacy. The older their children get, the more apparent this has become."
She also explained how the family's second home, Anmer Hall in Norfolk, no longer suits their busy lifestyle. "They love being at Anmer," Nicholl said. "But they need a base that is close to the capital so they can easily return for public engagements and events. Windsor seems like the ideal situation."
