Queen Elizabeth Breaks Protocol (Again!) with Surprise Pit Stop on Way to Windsor Castle

Queen Elizabeth’s summer vacation is almost over, but she still has one more stop to make before she returns to Windsor Castle.

According to People, Her Majesty and her husband Prince Philip will be “spend time privately on the Sandringham Estate," after leaving their Scottish home at the end of this month. The outlet also confirmed that the monarch will return to Buckingham Palace in London for “selected audiences and engagements” throughout the fall.

ICYMI: The queen is currently enjoying her annual summer break at Balmoral Castle, and while she typically comes home (aka BP) in the autumn, her plans changed this year due to the coronavirus pandemic. The Sunday Times announced last month that instead, Her Majesty will travel to Windsor, where she’ll stay for the foreseeable future (most likely until the holidays or when it is safe to return).

Elizabeth’s Sandringham pit stop comes as kind of a surprise, considering the gardens of the King’s Lynn estate in Norfolk are being transformed into a drive-in movie theater for the month.

“Enjoy your favorite movie from the comfort of your car in the wonderful setting of Sandringham Country Park,” the estate said in a statement according to Channel 3000. “We have selected some great street food vendors to join us at each performance. Upgrade your ticket for just £7.50 [about $9] to add a deckchair, table, popcorn and a separate area to the side of your vehicle.”

Is it possible that Queen E will be joining the crowds to watch 1917, Rocketman, Toy Story, The Greatest Showman, Moana, Grease, A Star Is Born and Bohemian Rhapsody? We certainly hope so.
