Put it in your diary: The car boot sale helping women war survivors
Over twenty violent conflicts are currently occurring across the globe, affecting men, women and children. Women, however, face the brunt of these atrocities with a rising level in violence taking away their independence.
Women for Women International was set up in 1993 to help the female survivors of war. Giving them the skills needed to build a new life, the much-needed charity has supported almost 500,000 women.
Unfortunately, their work is nowhere near complete. That’s where you come in.
For the second year, Women for Women International is holding a designer car boot sale with plenty of affordable one-off finds. Designers including Alice Temperley and Charlotte Olympia will be bringing their best wares – as will major fashion institutions including the British Fashion Council and vintage site Vestiaire Collective.
This Saturday, head to London’s Brewer Street Car Park for a few hours of fashion fun. With all proceeds going to the vital charity, you can splash your cash knowing you’ll be helping a number of women to escape poverty and violence.
Along with rare sample pieces and items straight from celebrity wardrobes, there will be beauty stands by celebrity make-up artist Charlotte Tilbury along with the chance to reinvent your hairstyle thanks to the Braid Bar.
“As a daughter and mother, I feel it is so so important to ensure that women have the opportunity to rebuild their lives after living in countries affected by war and conflict,” designer Alice Temperley commented.
“I am so pleased to be involved in this second #SheInspiresMe car boot sale. It is a fantastic way to be able to support the amazing and inspirational work Women for Women International do every day.”
In 2016, over £66,000 was raised for women war survivors. It’s time we all did our bit to help our female comrades around the world.
The 2017 #SheInspiresMe car boot sale takes place Saturday 6 May at Brewer Street Car Park. Priority tickets available for £10.
