Puma launches Project3 for Boston and London Marathon runners
The Boston Marathon and London Marathon are two of the greatest and most dreamed-about races on earth. So, if you have a race bib confirmed for either of these Abbott World Marathon Majors events in 2025, you have a lot to be excited about.
That said, if you’re set to run in Boston on Monday 21 April, or in London just six days later on 27 Sunday April, you’ll also know that now is the time to get serious about your training. Long runs, tempo runs, easy runs, energy gels, strength sessions, running shoes, rest and, well, the rest. Preparing for a marathon can feel like a lot. But what if you were given the opportunity to train and race like a professional athlete, with all the cutting-edge kit to go with it?
Here’s where the Project3 running programme comes in. Launched by Puma today (Monday 13 January), Project3 is a first-of-its kind initiative that will give a select group of amateur runners the rare chance to experience life as elites, trial new race day products and be in the running, quite literally, to win performance-based cash prizes.
To apply to join Puma’s Project3 programme, runners must have clocked a marathon PB of 3:10 or less and hold a valid 2025 race entry for the Boston Marathon or London Marathon. Prospective candidates should submit an application here before the deadline of 2pm (GMT) on Monday 27 January.
Puma will then select 100 Project3 runners for each marathon – and all will receive the same tools, training and equipment as that given to Puma’s elite athletes. Specifically, as they prepare for Boston or London, Project3 participants will gain unparalleled access to and in-depth guidance from Puma Elite Running Team coaches, professional runners and innovation experts, meaning they can arrive at the start line feeling ready to run their fastest marathons yet.
There are further incentives at stake, too. Puma will offer all Project3 runners the chance to pocket $3,000 (around £2,500) if they break their existing marathon PB by three minutes or more, as well as $3,000 to the male and female runners – in Boston and in London – who break their PBs by the biggest margin of all Project3 participants. Plus, Puma will award $3,000 to the fastest male and female Project3 finishers of each race. Should one runner win all three categories, they could walk away with $9,000.
To boost marathon motivation even further, Puma will reward Project3 winners with an all-expenses paid trip to a Puma sponsored race in 2025 and a year-long supply of Puma running kit up to the value of $5,000.
Eligible and eager to apply? Submit your Project3 application here by 2pm (GMT) on Monday 27 January 2025.
