Energy for home-schooling may be running thin, some kids have gone back but most are still stuck at home. missing their friends, as the weeks run into each other. So, a new announcement from publisher Puffin is sure to help give them a boost...
Starting on Monday (8 June), Puffin is launching a 'Festival Of Big Dreams' to help entertain, inspire and educate kids for a whole week. Hosted by Blue Peter presenter Radzi Chinyanganya and available on Puffin's YoutTube channel and Facebook page, it will be a week filled with creative workshops, writing challenges, activities for lockdown, quizzes and all round inspiring content. Perfect for getting kids' creative juices flowing!
Puffin, the world’s biggest children’s book publisher, is turning 80 this year, and is launching this online literary festival to not only celebrate that, but to help kids and parents navigate the ongoing crisis.
A selection of Puffin’s most-loved contemporary children’s authors and illustrators, including Jeff Kinney, Jacqueline Wilson, Carrie Hope Fletcher, Robin Stevens, Nick Sharatt, Dapo Adeola, Nathan Bryon and Nadia Shireen, are all on board to help get kids dreaming big.
Taking place from 8-14 June, sessions will run at 10.30am and 3.30pm daily on weekdays, with 20 minute videos featuring activities for you to try at home, and from 11am on weekends for special extravaganzas.
There's even due to be a very special guest appearance, some real-life puffins – all the way from their home at Coquet Island Seabird Sanctuary.
Puffin is also sharing a Puffin Festival of Big Dreams Activity Kit, jam packed with activities for kids to get creative during the festival and afterwards, offering 22 pages of word searches and colouring sheets, as well as a ‘Draw your Dream’ page where children can bring some of their biggest and boldest ideas to life.
