Supporters Fill Restaurant Lot in Show of Support Amid COVID-19 Lockdown in Chehalis

The parking lot was full outside Spiffy’s Restaurant in Chehalis, Washington on December 3, as individuals gathered to support owner Rod Samuelson for not closing the doors amid COVID-19 restrictions.

Samuelson reopened the restaurant on Monday after a two week shutdown and was reportedly “stunned” by the turnout. Officials from the State Department of Labor and Industries visited the restaurant on Wednesday.

On Thursday, Lewis County Public Health and Social Services released a statement announcing county officials were “working together and with state agencies to clarify enforcement roles and responsibilities,” chiefly involving “business rules enacted to protect public health and reduce viral spread.”
