Priyanka Chopra Jonas is one of those stars who's not just a triple threat but boasts so many talents we’re often left speechless when looking back at her varied career to date.

As a former Miss World champion, Bollywood star, Hollywood actress, haircare entrepreneur and now author, one can’t but help marvel at how the 38-year-old has the time, let alone energy, to create some of the most history-defining moments in fashion.

The ELLE March issue cover star recently sat down with ELLE UK to play a game of ‘It’s A Mood’ and recalled some of her favourite looks over the years, from gowns for the Oscars and multiway dresses at the Met Gala, to her numerous bridal gowns for her Indian wedding with husband Nick Jonas.

Chopra Jonas told ELLE about her first Met Gala appearance in 2017, which saw her walk the red carpet with her now husband, Jonas, and ignite rumours the pair were dating. The actress wore a Ralph Lauren trench coat dress with a 25-foot train which detached to leave a chic mini dress for fashion's biggest event of the year.

‘My favourite memory of the Met Gala was that I met my husband there,’ she told us. ‘I’d met Nick before – my first impression didn’t happen that night – but clearly he made a good first impression because he got a ring on my finger! It was a good impression.'

A year later, Chopra Jonas was spotted wearing a lavender-hued Vivienne Westwood dress, Lorraine Schwartz jewellery and a bespoke hat created by Irish milliner Philip Treacy at her friend Meghan Markle’s wedding.

Looking back at the royal’s big day, Chopra Jonas remembered just how much time and effort went into creating her fitted, button-up look.

‘We did fittings the night before at like 4 o’clock in the morning and started getting dressed at nine. It was an insanely hectic night but the outfit looked great and I felt great in it,’ she recalled.

As for her own wedding in 2018, the Indian-born star wore several designs ranging from a Falguni Shane Peacock lehenga, to a Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla-designed multi-coloured dress for a pre-wedding Mehendi in Jodhpur. ‘I wanted to feel very fun and alive and lively,’ she said of the latter.

‘The Ralph Lauren white outfit for the Western wedding was ethereal and so pretty,’ she said of her traditional white bridal gown, which is rumoured to have taken 1,826 hours to complete.

‘I couldn’t have asked for anything more. That veil, even though it was 75 ft served me well. I had a lot of fun.

‘I was very particular – I didn’t want anything flouncy or princessy. The collar and the lace on my wedding dress… that was Ralph Lauren’s idea and Andrew’s at the ateliers. They were very clear that we should see skin and have embroidery on the body almost. I loved my dress, it was perfect.’

Having walked the red carpet at countless star-studded award shows such as the Oscars (wearing a white Zuhair Murad gown that saw her shoot to the top of Google’s most searched celebrities on the night after Leonardo DiCaprio), the Cannes Film Festival (dressed in Georges Hobeika) and the Grammy Awards (dressed in a low-cut Ralph and Russo ‘risqué’ dress to show off her newly-pierced belly button), Chopra Jonas admitted she never tires of the chance to get dressed up for an event.

‘I’ve never gotten nervous on the red carpet, I actually have way more fun that I should [have]… I have a great time, I love the clothes that I wear, I love being in them and feeling beautiful and feeling myself and confident,' she said.

‘As long as you’re not in an outfit and you’re afraid you’re going to trip or fall… now that would be embarrassing and probably make you nervous for the rest of your life. Thankfully that hasn’t happened to me yet!’

While her style icons may include the likes of Audrey Hepburn, Indian film actress Rekha, her mother (‘she’s impossibly glamorous’) and Kate Moss, we have a feeling Chopra Jonas might have already cemented her name in the world's top sartorial icons for generations to come.
