The Princess of Wales has made a special visit to The Royal Marsden Hospital in London to thank those who cared for her during her cancer treatment, and to meet with patients and staff currently there.

In a personal message shared to her official social media account regarding the visit, Kate thanked all those at the hospital that "looked after me so well" with "exceptional care" and "all those who have quietly walked alongside William and me as we have navigated everything." She added that the couple, "couldn’t have asked for more."

Reflecting on her experience, The Princess said it was a "relief to now be in remission and I remain focussed on recovery," but that it "takes time to adjust to a new normal."

Kate finished the post on a positive note saying she was "looking forward to a fulfilling year ahead."

The Princess was pictured deep in conversation with patients receiving care at the hospital, who she sat and chatted with during her visit.

Kensington Palace said that Kate “wanted to make the journey to both show her gratitude to the incredible team, but also to highlight the world-leading care and treatment The Marsden provides,” said Sky News.

In March 2024, Kate announced in a video message that she was undergoing preventative chemotherapy, as it was found cancer had been present following an abdominal surgery. She stepped back from public duties while undergoing and recovering from treatment, but was able to return to some public events towards the end of last year, including to host her annual Together at Christmas Carol Service.

Kate was treated at The Royal Marsden, a historic hospital that was the world’s first to be dedicated to cancer diagnosis, treatment, research and education, having opened in 1851.

Last week, The Prince of Wales wrote an emotional tribute in honour of Kate’s 43rd birthday. In a post, he honoured his “most incredible wife” and said that the “strength [she’d] shown” over the past year had been “remarkable”.

He also added that he and their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis were “so proud of [her]”.
