The Princess of Wales goes monochrome for the 2023 BAFTAs
The Prince and Princess of Wales were two of the special guests at Sunday's BAFTAs, walking the red carpet among the A-list nominees at the Royal Festival Hall in London. The pair are regulars at the annual award ceremony, but this marks their first appearance in the past three years – and their first since being given their new titles.
Kate opted for a monochrome look for the evening, wearing a flowing white one-shoulder dress by one of her favourite designers, Alexander McQueen. It was a slightly modified version of the same gown she wore back in 2019; she added an extended sleeve detail that flowed elegantly behind her as she walked.
Then, it was all about the accessories. She added a contrasting pair of black opera gloves – one of this season's biggest red carpet trends – and a matching black clutch bag. Prince William colour co-ordinated nicely with his wife in a smart black tux and bow-tie.
Kate also opted for some oversized gold floral earrings; a slightly more statement-making jewellery choice than we're used to seeing from the royal. She kept her hair loose and in soft waves, while her make-up was similarly classic, with a subtle smokey eye and glowing skin.
The pair joined the likes of BAFTA nominees and presenters Cate Blanchett, Viola Davis, Ana de Armas, Anya Taylor Joy and Julianne Moore at the star-studded event, which celebrates the last 12 months in film (catch up on all the action from the red carpet, here).
Prince William has been president of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) since 2010 and regularly attends events to promote the British film industry.
