It's about to get royally festive.

This December, Kate Middleton will return to Westminster Abbey to host a special Christmas carol service supported by The Royal Foundation, Kensington Palace announced yesterday. The event, which will take place on December 15, plans to pay homage to the life and legacy of the late Queen Elizabeth II, who died at 96 years old this past September.

"The carol service will celebrate and showcase the joy that human connection can bring: forging friendships and strengthening communities, creating legacies of humility and kindness, whilst also providing relief and comfort in times of difficulty or loss. The service will combine both traditional and modern elements, reaching people of all faiths and none," the press release from Kensington Palace reads.

Viewers can expect to see the storied London church lit up by various festive decorations. Featured talent will include carols sung by the abbey's world-renowned choir and musical performances and readings delivered by special guests from across the United Kingdom. Members of the British royal family, charity workers, volunteers, and armed forces personnel will be among the evening's attendees.

Like last year, this year's service will be broadcast by ITV as part of a special December program.

This marks the second time that the princess will host a Christmas service. Last year's program, also held at Westminster Abbey, honored those individuals and organizations who supported their communities during the COVID-19 pandemic.

At the time, Kate also treated guests to a surprise piano performance at the abbey. Showcasing her musical talent in public for the first time, the princess accompanied Scottish singer Tom Walker on his song "For Those Who Can't Be Here."

The royal later shared a clip of their joint performance on her and Prince William's official Instagram account.
