Princess Beatrice's newborn baby girl’s official title has been revealed.

The Princess, who is the Queen's granddaughter, gave birth to a baby daughter late Saturday evening (18 September). This is the Princess' first child, who she welcomed with husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi. The couple were married in 2020.

While Bea's child won't get a title from her princess mom, she will get one from her dad. The little girl, whose name has not yet been announced, will be given the Italian title of Nobile Donna, which translates to Noble Woman.

This is because Edoardo, whose official title is Count, is from a family that was part of the Italian nobility and titles are passed down from the father’s side.

Edoardo’s father, Count Alessandro Mapelli Mozzi, explained this in detail to the Daily Mail saying, "Edoardo is the only male descendent taking the family into the next generation. He is a count, his wife will be a countess automatically and any of their children will be counts or nobile donna."

Although the family retains the titles, it does not use them in everyday life.

The newborn is the Queen's 12th great-grandchild. A statement from Buckingham Palace this weekend read: "Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice and Mr Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are delighted to announce the safe arrival of their daughter on Saturday 18th September 2021, at 23.42, at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, London."

"The baby weighs 6 pounds and 2 ounces. The new baby’s grandparents and great-grandparents have all been informed and are delighted with the news. The family would like to thank all the staff at the hospital for their wonderful care."

"Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well, and the couple are looking forward to introducing their daughter to her big brother Christopher Woolf."

Christopher is Edoardo's son from a previous marriage. The little girl will also have her cousin August to meet, born to Beatrice's sister Eugenie earlier this year, along with second cousins Lucas Philip, and Lilibet Diana, both also born this year.
