Princess Anne joins sailors in the Solent in honour of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee

Princess Anne joined sailors over the weekend in honour of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

The Princess Royal was on the Solent alongside sailors on Saturday (6 August), who had been taking part in the Cowes Week sailing event on the Isle of Wight.

Princess Anne was present to join a Platinum Jubilee celebration in honour of the Queen.

The special showcase saw a total of 400 boats come together on the Solent to mark the occasion, with hundreds of members of the local sailing and yachting community taking part.

Princess Anne was a special guest at the event and, according to a post on the official Royal Family Instagram account, she, “carried out the Fleet Review and Motor Past Review” at the gathering.

It went to explain that the boat congregation taking part in the Solent event consisted of, “Dunkirk Little Ships, Sail Training Ships and historic yachts.”

Photographs of the event were also shared on the account, and showed Princess Anne onboard a boat, waving her hat in greeting as she passed other sailors.

To attend the special occasion, the Princess Royal looked the part in a nautical outfit consisting of white trousers and with a crisp shirt and a navy blue, double-breasted blazer.

The blazer featured statement gold buttons and she also carried a leather over the shoulder handbag.

Members of the public took to the comments of the post to share their praise of the Princess Royal, with one individual referring to her as, “The hard working, quiet achiever and a wonderful daughter to the Queen,” and another adding, “Always in top form. We love HRH Princess Anne!”
