Princess Anne joined The King and Queen Consort to celebrate Olympic and Paralympic medal winners at a special reception on Wednesday (2 November).

The athletes were welcomed to Buckingham Palace for a celebratory reception, which was held in honour of their achievements.

The King and Camilla, Queen Consort welcomed the athletes to the Palace, alongside Princess Anne, Prince Edward (the Queen’s youngest son) and the Duke of Gloucester. Princess Anne is the President of Team GB while Prince Edward is a patron for GB Paralympics.

The Olympian and Paralympian guests won almost 200 medals across a range of sports at the Tokyo 2020 and Beijing 2022 games.

Photographs of the event show the royals shaking hands and chatting with the athletes during the event, which were shared to the official Royal Family’s social media accounts.

A caption alongside the images explained that “hundreds of medal winners gathered for a reception, hosted by The King and The Queen Consort, joined by The Earl of Wessex @paralympicsgb_official Patron, The Princess Royal @TeamGB President, and The Duke of Gloucester, in celebration of their achievements.”

The post ended by saying it had been “great to welcome so many of you!”

Earlier this week, Prince Edward, also known as the Earl of Wessex was in Scotland with this wife, the Countess of Wessex.

While there, the pair attended a special thanksgiving service in honour of the life of The Queen, as well as visiting local businesses. For the visit, Sophie Wessex wore a stunning camel coat.
