Princess Anne has awarded an MBE to Gok Wan

Princess Anne awarded an MBE to Gok Wan during two official ceremonies, alongside the Duke of Cambridge.

The Princess Royal honoured presenter Gok Wan with his MBE award for using, “his influence as a TV presenter to draw attention to a number charities and campaigns, including those surrounding anti-bullying, cancer care and body positivity,” according to a post on the official Royal Family Instagram account.

The two Investiture ceremonies where the honours were awarded took place yesterday (17 October) at Windsor Castle. During the day, over 120 people received their honours with both Princess Anne and Prince William present for the important occasion.

Honoured alongside Gok Wan, was Para Lion’s record cap holder, Stephen Daley. He received his MBE for, “services to para football and futsal.” The Royal Family added that, “following 134 games for @england, Stephen now concentrates on coaching and developed a strong coaching team in the North West to improve opportunities for disabled players.”

Lizzie Jones was awarded an MBE “for services to Rugby League and charity” in memory of her husband, who founded the Danny Jones Defibrillator Fund. The fund has raises money for life-saving equipment for Rugby League events.

Vocal coach, TV personality and former Eurovision contest Carrie Grant was also honoured yesterday for her work in music and with charities. She is also a Prince’s Trust ambassador.

The Queen was also conducting duties at Windsor Castle yesterday, holding an audience at the location which was her first in-person event since taking a short rest break for her health.
