Princess Anne received a tour of the Queen's Green Canopy Garden which was ceremonially opened earlier in the day by Dame Judi Dench, who cut a flower garland in the grounds of the garden.

The Queen’s RHS garden includes a canopy of 21 trees and was unveiled to announce the countdown to the planting season for the official “Plant a Tree for the Jubilee" scheme, which was founded to honour the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee next year.

The Princess Royal attended the first day of the Chelsea Flower Show with other members of the royal family, including her youngest sibling, Prince Edward and his wife, the Countess of Wessex.

Sophie Wessex opted for a stunning white dress with cut-out, billowing sleeves and was introduced to Alex Jones at The BBC One Show and RHS Garden of Hope.

Also in attendance were The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester and Princess Alexandra. Photographs of all the family members were shared on the official Royal Family social media accounts including Instagram.

A caption alongside the post explained that they had attended the event at the Royal Hospital Chelsea and that they visited gardens including the Queen’s Green Canopy Garden, which is “the largest of this year’s show gardens which highlights the vital importance of trees and woodlands.”
