Prince William's four-word response to Meghan's pregnancy announcement at Eugenie's wedding

Prince Harry revealed Prince William's reaction when he found out Meghan Markle was pregnant with their first child. Despite the brothers' relationship having taken a hit in recent years, they were still close and on speaking terms when Meghan and Harry discovered they were expecting baby Archie.

The couple chose to share their joyous news on the same day as Harry's cousin, Princess Eugenie's, wedding in October 2018. In his memoir Spare, Prince Harry shared: "Euge was getting married, to Jack, and we were deliriously happy for her, and for ourselves, selfishly, since Jack was one of our favourite people."

"Meg and I were supposed to head off on our first official foreign tour as a married couple, but we delayed the departure several days, so we could be at the wedding. Also, the various gatherings connected to the wedding would give us a chance to pull aside family members one by one and tell them our good news."

He went on to say: "After the drinks reception, in St George's Hall, Meg and I pulled Willy aside. We were in a big room, suits of armour on the walls. Strange room, strange moment. We whispered the news, and Willy smiled and said we must tell Kate.

"She was across the room, talking to Pippa. I said we could do it later, but he insisted. So we went and told Kate and she also gave a big smile and hearty congratulations. They both reacted exactly as I'd hoped."

Prince Harry has candidly shared about the moment he told his father, King Charles, about becoming a grandfather again, saying: "He was delighted to learn that he was going to be a grandfather for a fourth time, his wide smile warmed me."

This heartfelt memory from Harry's memoir 'Spare' contrasts with his more critical reflections on the Royal Family. He recounts an intense confrontation with his brother Prince William, who he refers to as both his "beloved brother" and "archnemesis."

Harry alleges that during a dispute at his London residence, Nottingham Cottage, in 2019, William physically assaulted him amid discussions of their strained relationship and media controversies. The argument escalated when William voiced negative opinions about Meghan, calling her "difficult," "rude" and "abrasive."

Describing the altercation, Harry writes: "He set down the water, called me another name, then came at me. It all happened so fast. So very fast," adding that William grabbed him, causing a necklace to rip and pushing him to the floor onto a dog's bowl, which broke and cut him. After the incident, Harry says William left but later returned to apologise, showing remorse.

William also asked Harry not to inform Meghan about the altercation, a request Harry initially honoured, choosing instead to reach out to his therapist.
