Prince William is "very proud" Queen Elizabeth has been vaccinated against Covid-19

While lockdown restrictions remain in place amid the Covid-19 pandemic, members of the royal family are continuing to carry out their official engagements remotely.

Last week, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge took part in a Zoom call with staff from Hospice UK’s Just "B" counselling, to discuss how frontline workers are coping in the pandemic, and how they've been supporting members of the public. Prince William also took part in a call with healthcare staff regarding the vaccine rollout, which is currently taking place across the United Kingdom.

According to a Kensington Palace press release, "the Duke of Cambridge spoke to frontline workers and volunteers from across the UK via video call to hear more about their involvement in the administration of the Covid-19 vaccine, and to pay tribute to their dedication and continued efforts to ensure that the most vulnerable people in society are protected from coronavirus."

During the call, Prince William revealed: "My grandparents have had the vaccine and I'm very proud of them for doing that," adding that "it's really important that everyone gets their vaccine". Buckingham Palace recently confirmed that both the Queen and Prince Philip had been administered the first doses of the Covid-19 vaccine, in line with the government rollout for their age group.

"I want to say a huge congratulations to everyone involved in the vaccination programme because it looks tremendous, it really does," the duke said. "I know what a massive difference it is going to make to everyone. It is also worth pointing out I think that this isn’t something that happens really easily and that everyone has access to around the world. This is because we have a world-leading NHS and we have the right people, research and development here."
