Whenever images or footage have been released of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and their children, they tend to paint a picture of idyllic and harmonious family life. However, the latest reflections from Prince William have revealed that, just like many parents, he spends time mediating squabbles between his children in the mornings.
The duke opened up about his life for an episode of Apple’s Time to Walk, which sees high-profile guests share reflections while walking through a location that is important to them. The Prince walked through the Queen’s Sandringham Estate in Norfolk this spring and spoke about his childhood, his work and family life with his three children.
“What I’ve been amazed by is how much my children already have inherited my family’s love of music,” William said towards the end of the episode as he reached his home on the estate, Anmer Hall.
“Most mornings there's a massive fight between Charlotte and George as to what song is played in the morning. And I have to, now, basically prioritise that one day someone does this one, and another day it's someone else's turn. So George gets his go, then Charlotte gets her go. Such is the, the clamor for the music.”
The prince chose Shakira’s Waka Waka to be one of three songs played during the episode, as he said his children “are loving” it at the moment.
He added about the children’s dancing: “There’s a lot of hip movements going along. There's a lot of dressing up. Charlotte, particularly, is running around the kitchen in her dresses and ballet stuff and everything. She goes completely crazy with Louis following her around trying to do the same thing. It's a really happy moment where the children just enjoy dancing, messing around and singing.”
The royal also played Tina Turner’s Simply the Best, which he said reminded him of his mother Princess Diana and AC/DC’s Thunderstruck, which he said helped him get back to work after the weekend.
Apple’s Time to Walk was launched at the start of this year on Apple Watch for Apple Fitness Plus to encourage people to walk more often to benefit their physical and mental health. Each episode features a guest who walks in a location that is meaningful to them and shares important memories, life experiences, and lessons learned.
William’s episode will also be available free on radio station Apple Music 1 available now.
