Prince William presents Deborah James with damehood

Prince William visited TV host Deborah James on Friday to present her with a damehood.

The BBC presenter received a visit from the Duke of Cambridge at her home, where she was presented with the title.

The now-official Dame Deborah James shared the news on her Instagram, and wrote in the caption: "Prince William actually came to our family house today!! I am utterly honoured that he joined us for afternoon tea and champagne, where he not only spent a generous amount of time talking to my whole family but also honoured me with my Damehood."

She continued, "It's quite surreal having a royal pop in at home, and yes you can imagine the cleaning antics and preparation went off the scale - but it was all irrelevant because William was so kind and he put us all at ease. He is clearly passionate about improving oncology outcomes as the President of the Royal Marsden (hospital)."

Deborah has candidly discussed her battle with bowel cancer on her podcast You, Me and the Big C and recently revealed she is receiving end-of-life care. William's visit came shortly after he and his wife Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge made a donation to Deborah's Bowelbabe Fund to raise money for cancer research.

She concluded her post, "It was such a special day for my whole family, making memories to last a lifetime. He's welcome back any time!"

Her Bowelbabe Fund has raised more than £6 million so far.
