Prince William is the latest member of the Royal Family to address the coronavirus pandemic.

The Duke of Cambridge took to Instagram to urge UK citizens to band together in the midst of the uncertainty surrounding the current crisis. In the video, William addresses the nation with a straight face to discuss the latest updates concerning the novel coronavirus, and also promotes the work of the National Emergencies Trust.

“Whenever and wherever adversity strikes, the people of the UK have a unique ability to pull together,” he says. “The way that local communities support those affected shows the very best of our values and human nature. The public’s desire to help in the wake of tragedy needs to be managed and channelled in the best possible way, which is why the establishment of the National Emergencies Trust was so important.”

“The NET has launched an appeal to raise funds to help local charities support individuals suffering hardship as a result of the #coronavirus outbreak,” the post’s caption continues.

William’s acknowledgment of the crisis comes hours after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex Harry and Meghan took to Instagram to announce they would be using the social media platform to promote causes to help combat coronavirus and the panic and anxiety surrounding it.

“Our willingness, as a people, to step up in the face of what we are all experiencing with COVID-19 is awe-inspiring,” the Duke and Duchess of Sussex wrote. “This moment is as true a testament there is to the human spirit.”
