Prince William and Kate Middleton just volunteered at their local food bank – and here are the photos

If you thought being a royal was all about red carpets and international visits, then think again. In fact, yesterday Prince William and Kate Middleton spent some time volunteering at a food bank near their home in Windsor, and got very hands-on.

ICYMI, the Prince and Princess of Wales visited Windsor Foodshare, close to their Berkshire home, where they learnt about the support that the organisation offers to those in the local area. The couple then helped package food parcels for individuals and families using the service, which they described as "vital".

"This really is a wonderful place for bringing people together," Kate said as she got stuck in with her volunteering work. She also revealed that their children – Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis – are aware of the project because it is supported by their school, Lambrook.

Before leaving the food bank, William promised that the family would be returning to help out even more, telling staff: "We would love to come back without the entourage."

Later sharing a tweet about their outing, the Waleses said: "Wonderful to spend some time with volunteers at Windsor Foodshare this morning. The donations and food packages make such a difference to those in the local area who need them. Hope we were more of a help than a hindrance when it came to the packing!"

If you're struggling with your bills, you can speak to a number of charities – including Turn2us and the Independent Food Aid Network – set up to help those during the cost-of-living crisis, as well as debt-management charities like Step Change.
