Prince William visited the England women’s football team yesterday (15 June) ahead of the UEFA Women’s Euro 2022, which takes place this summer.

To commemorate his visit, the team gifted the Duke of Cambridge three adorable football shirts for the Cambridge children. Each shirt was personalised with their name on the back and their age. Prince Louis is four years old, Princess Charlotte, seven, and Prince George is eight years old.

The Duke joined the Lionesses at St George's Park National Football Centre to meet the squad and hear about their preparation for the upcoming event.

In footage of his visit, Prince William is seen chatting to the team and revealed that one of his own children has a special talent.

“Charlotte wanted me to tell you that she’s very good in goal. She told me to tell you that. I said okay, I’ll tell them that,” he said to the Lionesses, before adding that Princess Charlotte was a potential, “budding star of the future.”

In a post shared to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s social media page Prince William said that the England squad were, “already inspiring the next generation of women and girls to play football, reaping the mental and physical benefits of activity.”

Looking ahead to this summer's Euros event he said that, “A major tournament on home soil is an exciting prospect and it’s clear the players are looking forward to the opportunity to show what they can do,” adding that, “the whole nation will be cheering [the team] on!”

Prince William is the president of the English Football Association (FA) and has often been seen at matches. He even brought Prince George along to a recent game.
