Prince Louis Will Go By a Different Name at School After Queen Elizabeth’s Passing
The kids at Prince Louis’s new school know him as a Cambridge, but that’s all about to change.
Prince William and Kate Middleton’s children will no longer use the “Cambridge” moniker. Instead, they will use “Wales.”
This means that the faculty at Lambrook School will need to adjust when addressing Louis. Although he isn’t using royal titles at school, he’ll now go by Louis Wales (instead of Louis Cambridge).

As Good Morning America pointed out, Buckingham Palace used the Wales children’s new titles during the queen’s funeral last week, where they were listed in the Order of Service. The change is linked to their parents, who also underwent title updates. In the aftermath of Queen Elizabeth’s death, the royal couple were granted new monikers—Prince and Princess of Wales—because Prince William is now first in line to the British throne.
King Charles announced the news during his first official speech following the queen’s passing. “Today, I am proud to create him Prince of Wales,” he said. “With Catherine beside him, our new Prince and Princess of Wales will, I know, continue to inspire and lead our national conversations.”
He also thanked Queen Elizabeth for her service and promised to carry on her legacy. “My beloved mother was an inspiration, an example to me and to all my family,” the king explained. “And we owe her the most heartfelt debt any family could owe to a mother for her love affection, guidance, understanding and example.”
King Charles confirmed that he’ll follow in her footsteps, adding, “Our values have remained and must remain constant.”
