The Duke of Sussex is writing a memoir about royal life, detailing “the experiences, adventures, losses, and life lessons that have helped shaped him”.

Prince Harry will open up about his life in the public eye as a royal; his time in the military in Afghanistan; being married to Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex; and becoming a father to Archie and Lilibet Mountbatten-Windsor.

“I’m writing this not as the prince I was born but as the man I have become," Harry wrote in a statement. "I've worn many hats over the years, both literally and figuratively, and my hope is that in telling my story — the highs and lows, the mistakes, the lessons learned — I can help show that, no matter where we come from, we have more in common than we think. I'm deeply grateful for the opportunity to share what I've learned over the course of my life so far and excited for people to read a firsthand account of my life that's accurate and wholly truthful."

The news follows the Sussexes’ tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey earlier this year, which detailed Meghan's mental health struggles, lack of support from "The Firm" and accusations of racism within the royal family.

At her lowest, the duchess said that she "just didn't want to be alive any more"; after suffering an onslaught of abusive reports from the tabloid press, she said she was discouraged from leaving the house for months, and wasn't defended by the palace.

Harry's upcoming memoir is set to be released in the autumn of 2022 and will be published by Penguin Random House with an accompanying audiobook edition.
