'It is a lonely place': Prince Harry shares insight into Windsor Castle without the Queen

Prince Harry has revealed that the Queen's home is a "lonely" place without her as he greeted crowds outside Windsor Castle this weekend.

The Duke of Sussex spoke with grieving well-wishers alongside his wife Meghan Markle on Saturday.

In a video obtained by The Sun, the royal father-of-two gave an insight into how things already felt different at Her Majesty's Berkshire residence since her passing on Thursday.

Responding to an offer of condolence, he said: "It is a lonely place up there now without her."

The duke, who was one of the Queen's eight grandchildren, added: "Every room she was in, we felt her presence throughout."

Along with his wife, they joined the new Prince and Princess of Wales to view floral tributes left for the late monarch, who died at Balmoral.

The four royals, who have entered a period of mourning, all dressed in black as a sign of respect.

The sons of King Charles III both made the trip up to the Scottish royal residence on Thursday before returning to Windsor the following day.

Princess Catherine also paid her own subtle tribute to the Queen with her decision to wear a pair of pearl-drop earrings.

According to The Telegraph, pearls are considered "mourning jewellery" and are thought to commemorate loved ones because they symbolise tears.

They have been a tradition for royal women since Queen Victoria's reign, when she only appeared in strands of pearls following the death of husband Prince Albert in 1861.

Since the late monarch's passing was announced, the princess has been pictured in the same pair of 18-carat gold baroque pearl earrings from the brand Annoushka.
