How Prince Harry & Meghan Markle Are Protecting Baby Lili's Name from Exploitation
Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan are being cautious when it comes to protecting their newborn daughter's name and identity.
According to People, the royal couple purchased multiple website domains—including LilbetDiana.com and LiliDiana.com—ahead of their daughter's birth earlier this month. They did so, per an official spokesperson for the pair, to avoid any outside entities from exploiting or taking advantage of her widely known name as she grows up. The couple's first child, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, also has a website in his name via the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's charitable foundation, Archewell.
"As is often customary with public figures, a significant number of domains of any potential names that were considered were purchased by their team to protect against the exploitation of the name once it was later chosen and publicly shared," a representative for the couple said regarding the domains.
Harry and Meghan welcomed their daughter into the world earlier this month, revealing her meaningful name to the public. "Lilibet" honors the family nickname of Harry's grandmother Queen Elizabeth II, while Diana, of course, pays special tribute to his late mother, Diana, the Princess of Wales.
"On June 4th, we were blessed with the arrival of our daughter, Lili. She is more than we could have ever imagined, and we remain grateful for the love and prayers we've felt from across the globe," the couple said in a note following Lili's birth. "Thank you for your continued kindness and support during this very special time for our family."
