Prince Harry and Meghan make first public appearance since baby Lilibet's arrival

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle visited New York's One World Trade Centre on Thursday (23 September), which marked their first public appearance together since moving to California.

The couple joined New York City mayor Bill de Blasio, wife Chirlane McCray and their son Dante de Blasio; and Governor of New York State Kathy Hochul at One World Observatory, 9/11's memorial built on the site of the original Twin Towers.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were honouring the 20th anniversary of the September 11 attacks, having previously paid tribute to those who lost their lives during the terror atrocity by displaying their names on their website, Archewell.

Harry and Meghan wore dark colours as they paid their respects, with the duke wearing a black suit and the duchess opting for a chic navy turtleneck worn with coordinating tailored trousers and a long coat.

When asked whether they were enjoying their visit to New York, Meghan replied: 'It's wonderful to be back.'

The duke and duchess will also attend the 24-hour broadcast, Global Citizen Live, which is being held in Central Park this weekend. The campaign is demanding global vaccine equity and calling on the world's wealthiest nations and the European Union to share at least 1 billion COVID-19 vaccine doses with those most in need.

Harry and Meghan are keen advocates for vaccine equity, with Harry recently attending a concert in LA to praise the world's frontline medical workers and reaffirm the importance of making vaccinations borderless.

The couple recently welcomed their second child, a daughter named Lilibet.
