How Prince George's royal wedding outfit broke tradition
Royal watchers were worked into a frenzy when they caught their first glimpse of Meghan Markle on her wedding day.
The beautiful Duchess of Sussex wowed spectators with her custom gown by Givenchy designer Claire Waight Keller and tiara from the Queen’s personal collection.

However, there was another royal fashion moment that sent tongues wagging — and it comes courtesy of page boy and future King of England, Prince George!
Harry and Meghan’s wedding marks the first time Prince George has ever worn long pants in public.
The 4-year-old looked smart in the miniature version of the Blues and Royals coat worn by both Prince Harry and George’s father, Prince William. The coat was monogrammed with his initials “GC” for Prince George of Cambridge. George also sported black pants that were custom made by Savile Row tailors, Dege & Skinner, featuring a red stripe down the side.

Until now, George has followed the upper-class tradition of wearing shorts and knee-high socks.
“It’s a very English thing to dress a young boy in shorts,” ettiquette expert Wiliam Hanson told Harper’s Bazaar. “Trousers are for older boys and men, whereas shorts on young boys is one of those silent class markers that we have in England.”
“Although times are (slowly) changing, a pair of trousers on a young boy is considered quite middle class – quite suburban.” Hanson continued, “And no self-respecting aristo or royal would want to be considered suburban. Even the Duchess of Cambridge.”
Despite the break from tradition, George looked dapper in his long pants at the royal wedding alongside his sister, Princess Charlotte as members of the bridal party that consisted of children only.
