Earlier this week, Prince Philip was admitted to the King Edward VII hospital in London after a period of feeling unwell.

Buckingham Palace revealed in a statement: "Following consultation with his doctor The Duke of Edinburgh is likely to remain in hospital for observation and rest over the weekend and into next week. As we have said previously the doctor is acting with an abundance of caution. The Duke remains in good spirits."

Over the weekend, Prince Charles was photographed arriving at the hospital to visit his father. BAZAAR.com has learned that Prince Charles made the trip from Highgrove in Gloucestershire to visit Prince Philip in London. After a 30 minute visit, Prince Charles was seen exiting the hospital. It's believed that Charles has returned to his Highgrove home this evening.

Prince Philip received his COVID-19 vaccine last month, as did the Queen.

The duke is set to celebrate his 100th birthday in June 2021, but royal fans shouldn't expect a huge, public celebration. Of the forthcoming occasion, a Buckingham Palace aide told The Telegraph: "You can't do something if someone doesn't want something doing. The one person you can guarantee will not want anything to do with it, is the duke. He's retired, he's stepped back, he doesn't want the fuss. You can't blame him."

The source continued: "It is something that will have to be raised in the New Year. But we might get short shrift."
