The Duke and Duchess of Cornwall stepped out on the Isle of Skye dressed in tartan on Thursday (16 September).

Prince Charles, 72 and Camilla, 74, who are known as the Duke and Duchess of Rothesay when in Scotland, are visiting the island to see how businesses are progressing following the Coronavirus lockdowns.

Looking dapper, Prince Charles wore a red and beige kilt with a brown leather sporran and matching tie and Camilla also opted for tartan. The Duchess looked chic in a tailored dress coat that featured tartan lapels. Underneath she opted for a tartan skirt too and red shirt and accessorised her outfit with a brooch, bracelet and nude court shoes.

Photographed speaking to well-wishers, locals and tourists in Portree, the capital of the island, the pair were in great spirits. They toured around the town and received a special performance by Gaelic singer Robert Robertson in front of the backdrop of Ben Tianavaig.

Speaking of the performance, Robertson said: “It wasn’t nerve-wracking, the duke and duchess have a really down-to-earth way about them. And because they have attended the Royal National Mod, they have a real interest in that, and in Gaelic.

“It just felt like a really nice conversation, and it was a real pleasure.”

This is the first time the royal couple has visited the Isle of Skye since 2009.
