Five more women have called on Prince Andrew to answer questions in court about shocking clams he had sex with a trafficked teenager amid renewed scrutiny on his association with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
The Duke of York is facing allegations he had sex with Virginia Giuffre, then called Virginia Roberts, three times while she was being trafficked by paedophile Jeffrey Epstein.
He denies the allegations and says he does not remember meeting her.
Fresh evidence about a photograph taken of the prince and Ms Giuffre also emerged in the BBC’s Panorama programme on Monday night, which featured the first UK interview with her.
She told the show: “I implore the people in the UK to stand up beside me, to help me fight this fight, to not accept this as being OK.
“This is not some sordid sex story. This is a story of being trafficked, this is a story of abuse and this is a story of your guys’ royalty.”
‘It was disgusting’
Ms Giuffre was employed by Jeffrey Epstein as a masseuse but says she was abused by the financier, who killed himself in August 2019 while awaiting trial for sex trafficking offences.
Prince Andrew and Epstein had a friendship, but the royal, who is known to have stayed at three of Epstein’s properties, has disputed how close the pair were.
He met Epstein through friend Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein’s partner.
The BBC programme detailed how a photo of Prince Andrew and Ms Giuffre at the London house of Ms Maxwell was seen by Ms Giuffre’s then-boyfriend in 2001, according to a court affidavit.
The duke has said he has no memory of the photo being taken and questioned whether it was his own hand in the image.
The Palace has suggested the photo is a fake.
Panorama said it spoke to the photographer who copied the original photo in 2011 and said he has no doubt it is genuine. Ms Giuffre said they had sex that same night the photo was taken.
She said: “It didn’t last very long, the whole entire procedure. It was disgusting. He wasn’t mean or anything but he got up and he said ‘Thanks’ and walked out.
“I sat there in bed, just horrified and ashamed and felt dirty. I had to get up and have a shower.”
Ms Giuffre insisted the photo was genuine and she gave the original to the FBI in 2011.
Andrew’s email to Ghislaine
Five women, meanwhile, claim the duke saw people being given massages at Epstein’s homes. The women, who allege they were also victims of Epstein, are calling on Prince Andrew to give a testimony in their civil court case.
Subpoenas have reportedly been prepared in each of the women’s cases, and Prince Andrew has said he is willing to help any law enforcement agency if needed.
Panorama also said it had uncovered an email allegedly sent by Andrew in 2015 to Ghislaine Maxwell, who is accused of procuring girls for Epstein.
In it, the duke is reported to have asked for Ms Maxwell’s help in dealing with claims by Ms Guiffre.
The Duke is said to have written: “Let me know when we can talk. Got some specific questions to ask you about Virginia Roberts.”
Ms Maxwell replies: “Have some info. Call me when you have a moment.”
Ms Giuffre also defended her testimony against claims there are inconsistencies in her evidence.
“You are left with a foggy memory sometimes, you really are,” she said.
“I might be wrong on dates absolutely and I might be wrong on places even, sometimes.
“But one thing that I can tell you is you never forget the face of someone who has heaved over you.”
Ms Giuffre called on the British public to stand up beside her in her fight as she told BBC Panorama how the duke was “the most hideous dancer I’ve ever seen in my life” and “his sweat was … raining basically everywhere”.
The programme also shows pictures of the prince apparently sweating around that time.
Prince Andrew has previously told the BBC’s Newsnight programme that he could not sweat around the time of the allegations - 2001 - because of a medical condition from his time serving in the Falklands War.
