Primark's First Designer Collaboration Is Here
Primark is known for stocking bargain versions of luxury fashion items, but now the retailer’s own accessories range has been given the designer treatment.
The brand has announced it has teamed up with British fashion designer Henry Holland to create a range of fun tote bags this spring.
There are four different styles in the collection, which is being launched to coincide with Graduate Fashion Week this June. The bags are priced at £3 each, and Primark will donate £1.32 of every bag sold to the GFW Foundation for the support of the next generation of fashion graduates.
As for the designs, two of them embrace Holland’s signature slogan style: there's a striped ‘Can’t Stop Us’ bag and a polka dot ‘Bring It On’ version.
There’s also a vibrant black, white and red print featuring a French bulldog motif, and a quirky pastel-coloured design with a cute pink kitten.
Speaking to Primark about the design process, Holland said he wanted to create a bag range that was "infused" with his brand’s DNA.
"Colour, print and slogans were key and ensuring the bags were made in an ethical way were high priorities for both myself and the store," he explained. "We worked in collaboration to try and ensure the highest sales and raising the most money for GFW."
The bags, which are made from 100% sustainable cotton, will launch in Primark stores around the UK this week ahead of Graduate Fashion Week. And if you’re interested in swotting up on who is up and coming in fashion, this year’s event takes place on 3-6 June at the Truman Brewery in East London.
