“The Price Is Right” has a plan if a contestant pees their pants in excitement, former producer says

"I never saw it happen, but there were curtains and a blow dryer and [a] pair of sweats just in case."

Former The Price Is Right producer Mike Richards has revealed what the game show does if contestants get a little too excited after winning that brand-new car.

Richards, who worked on the series as it changed hosts from Bob Barker to Drew Carey, told PEOPLE that production has a protocol in place in the event that a participant’s enthusiasm incites a physical reaction.

"When I got there, they had a system in place in case someone peed their pants," he recalled. “I never saw it happen, but there were curtains and a blow dryer and [a] pair of sweats just in case, since we'd have to get on with the show.”

Although the protocol may sound silly, it's certainly better to be safe than sorry given that accidents can happen during filming. Just last July, for example, a man named Henry dislocated his shoulder after winning a game of Bonkers.

Carey addressed Henry's injury later on the show. "Let me explain what happened," the host told viewers. "Henry was celebrating and goin' 'woo!' and he dislocated his shoulder." His wife, Alice, then replaced him to spin the wheel.

That's not the only injury that has occurred on the show. While taping his very first episode in 2007, Carey got his arm caught in a rotating device while explaining how to play a round of the "Grocery Game," and a woman named Judy fell and sprained her ankle while she was attempting to spin the show's wheel in 2014.
