CHILDREN at a pre-school near Swindon now have a newly-refurbished space to read and relax.

Thames Pre-School on Bath Road in Cricklade has received £500 through waste management company CSG’s new Community Chest initiative, which has been launched to support good causes across the country.

The pre-school plans to use the cash for two new child-sized sofas for the quiet time area.

Sara Shoesmith said: “We are absolutely thrilled to receive this generous donation. Funding is particularly hard to come by at the moment so this is a massive boost.

“Our current sofas are old and falling apart. The children will love enjoying time in the new area with some good books.

“We are very aware of CSG as a significant local employer. It’s tremendous that they are actively getting involved with the local community.”

The company's Swindon base, also on Bath Road, specialises in emptying septic tanks, cesspits and sewage treatment plants for householders and businesses across the region.

CSG driver Nicholas Brown nominated Thames Pre-School for Community Chest funding.

He said: “I’m so pleased. It’s an excellent pre-school which really goes above and beyond for the children in its care.

“I’m proud to work for a company which is committed to supporting groups and charities in the areas in which it operates.”
