It was the last show of New York Fashion Week and Marc Jacobs did NOT fail to end the season with a bang. Never one to shy away from powerful imagery (we still can’t get over the Bang! perfume advert), the show was staged on a dramatically bleak, white circular catwalk.
In front of a crowd of revered fashion superstars, including Anna Wintour herself, Jacobs brought out powerful, gothic, Victorian creations - oh, and Lady Gaga.

Yup, look closer, that’s Gaga. Straying not far from her role as The Countess on American Horror Story, Gaga walked alongside Kendall Jenner in a voluminous horror meets old Hollywood outfit, pairing ladylike fur and a pussybow shirt with stompy metallic space boots. And can we talk about the makeup?! [Image: Rex]
Gaga herself uploaded a photo of the painstaking skill and effort that went into creating those artfully set waves - a modern update of the 30′s finger wave.

The rest of the collection was equally impressive with plenty shades of grey and black, reflecting a more somber, haunting mood for the upcoming season.
There were plenty of rich textures and fabrics - think sequins, mixed with lace and feathers, mostly in oversized, voluminous shapes. Nothing was muted or minimalist, here’s a selection of our favourites.

And did you SEE the army of stylists surrounding Kendall Jenner backstage? We’re counting at least five people here - surprised Kendall even has room to breathe, no wonder she’s not looking very happy!
Alongside the dramatic set-waves were extravagantly lined eyes, with plenty of powder fallout around the eye and noir lips for a smoky, “night of the undead” look.
And the gothic mood wasn’t just on the catwalk either. Emily Ratajkowski showed up in a sweeping, barely-there gothic lace dress and Christina Ricci also channelled her inner Wednesday Adams. Very in keeping with the mood of the show!
Lady Gaga absolutely killed it pre-show too, in a sensational fishtail dress on the streets of New York. Move over catwalk models, there’s a new Super in town.
