Seven products that will have you well on your way to invisible pores.
Fun fact: you can’t actually get rid of your pores (they’re home to each and every single hair on your body) or indeed shrink them, I’m afraid. But what you can do is make sure they’re not clogged with sebum, dirt and dead skin which makes them much more visible (and makes your skin prone to breakouts) and you can work on making sure they’re closed, rather than open.
My two favourite cleansers to tackle pores - and if fact, I love them as cleansers anyway - are Dermalogica Dermal Clay Cleanser which purifies pores on a daily basis. SkinCeuticals’ LHA Cleansing Gel on the other hand is designed for skin prone to breakouts and combines LHA, glycolic acid and salicylic acid to decongest pores. Aka cell by cell exfoliation to unclog pores.
Clinique Pore Refining Solutions Charcoal mask draws out impurities. Use 2-3 times a week.
Groundbreaking new technology from SK-II in the form of their RNA Power Essence is taking your skincare to another level. It significantly smooths the skin which gives you less visible pores to wake up to - yes please! While the Double Serum from Clarins uses 20 pure plant extracts to visibly even skin tone, thus reducing the appearance of pores.
Before / After Make-up
I was recently recommended the Dermalogica Clearing Mattifier (while trying out their Face Map services) which clears breakouts, reduces congestion and reduces shine. I put this on before my makeup, and if I still want to reduce shin or quite literally blur away pores and fine lines I’ll use the Indeed Labs Nanoblur after my foundation. This product does what it say on the tin: blurs. It works to fill in any unevenness in your skin texture to give you a smooth - pore free! - appearance. It’s really quite incredible.
